TAKE2 Victoria’s climate change pledge
TAKE2 shares tips to take action on climate change and help keep the global temperature rise under two degrees.
Here’s a tip to perk you up—save on coffee when you BYO cup!
For those of us who take our lattes to go, investing in a reusable cup is an easy step towards a smaller carbon footprint.
In fact, the University of Melbourne has found that using the popular KeepCup for a year reduces greenhouse gas emissions by up to 92% compared to disposable cups.
As an added benefit, thousands of cafes across Australia will give you a discount on your coffee just for making the change.
The driving force behind this growing movement is TAKE2 member Responsible Cafes.
Use their handy online map to find participating cafes near you and compare how much you’ll save on the price of a brew.
Favourite local spot not among the options? They might just need some encouragement from a passionate customer. Responsible Cafes can help you start the conversation.
Really, the hardest part is deciding on your preferred reusable cup, given the huge range that’s now available. As well as KeepCup (another Take2 member), homegrown Victorian brands include Frank Green and Joco.
To find your nearest responsible cafe, go to responsiblecafes.org, or connect with the group on social media #responsiblecafes. Then sit back with your coffee and join TAKE2 for more ideas on how to tackle climate change.
