We’ve been on the road with our friends at ShineHub and Conservation Council SA talking to hundreds of South Australians about solar and storage.
From 13 to 22 November, we participated 12 ShineHub Community Solar Program events around Adelaide for households interested in solar and battery storage.
As part of the roadshow, our partners ShineHub have been offering families ways to install solar panels and/or battery storage, including zero deposit loans from Bank Australia. By helping households to estimate their electricity consumption, the events are finding families solutions that will see them save money on their bills from day one.
The ShineHub Community Solar Program is using group buying power and pre-negotiated discounts to get prices for solar and batteries down for families – from an average of around $18,000 to $13,000 per system. Combined with the Bank Australia personal loan, this means that homeowners can replace much of their current electricity bill with lower cost, renewable solar power.
An example household that gets a solar and battery system with the Bank Australia personal loan through the ShineHub Community Solar Program can cut its electricity costs by 28%.
Through this program, we’re helping more customers switch to solar. The interest in battery storage via the program has also been very high – 80% of orders have been for solar and battery storage, which is much higher than the current industry average of 5%.
In addition, the program is donating money from each order to community partners including the Conservation Council SA, Trees For Life, and National Trust SA – based on current orders over $33,000 will be donated.
The South Australia Community Solar Program is open to anyone who owns a home within 70 kilometres of Adelaide. Due to strong interest, the sign-up period has been extended to 16 December. To find out more visit ShineHub’s South Australia Community Solar Program page.
Our customers have told us that they want us to encourage growth in renewable energy. By participating in the ShineHub Community Solar Program, we’re helping customers in South Australia switch to solar and batteries.
