Bank Australia is growing its longstanding connection to the Valley with room for more local jobs after the reopening of the bank’s flagship building on Moore Street, Moe.
Following a seven month, $2.6 million refurbishment project, Bank Australia’s Moe Branch and National Customer Contact and Lending Centre building was officially reopened on 27 June by Chair Judith Downes.
Latrobe City Mayor Cr Darrell White, local stakeholders, customers and staff celebrated with the unveiling of a plaque, and a traditional Welcome to Country ceremony conducted by Colin Thomas, a representative of the Gunaikurnai people.
The update has added a lift to improve accessibility, an outdoor deck, staff wellbeing room, new furniture and equipment, green walls and open space. Together with the new Moe branch, the project has delivered a bright, modern and more sustainable working environment for Bank Australia’s staff and an enhancement for local customers.
Construction started in August 2017 and the new branch opened in November 2017. The first floor refurbishment was completed earlier this year, and in April a 32.5kWh solar panel system was installed on the roof by local supplier Gippsland Solar.

Terri Marsden, Manager of Bank Australia’s National Customer Contact Centre said: “The refurbishment has been just amazing – our staff have really responded positively to the new building features, and they’ve told us they love coming to work here every day.
“We’re experiencing strong growth nationally as more Australians choose a responsible bank for their money. As our business grows we’ve now got more room to employ local staff to service customers from right here in Latrobe.
“We think the future is bright for Latrobe. Over one third of our national workforce is based in the Valley, including more than 120 staff who work out of the Contact Centre building right here in Moe and we’ve seen an increase of 16 roles in the Valley in the past 12 months,” she said.
“Our finance traineeship is another way that we are growing local employment, and we currently have 7 trainees who are gaining skills and experience for a future in the banking industry, and are currently recruiting for more.”
