Memoir of a Snail

“It’s a stunning film capturing the life of Grace and the challenges she endures. The story takes you on a journey, flowing between tragedy and comedy. A heart-warming location production with scenes from St Kilda featuring Aussie voices and beautifully handmade stop-motion animation crafted by a team of local artists.”

The Substance

“You’ll laugh in disbelief, you’ll feel sick, you’ll want to cover your eyes and simultaneously not be able to look away. But behind the gore and overt body horror is the reality of the pressure we feel for perfection and the lengths we will go to, to achieve it.”
 - Mitch

My Old Ass

“My favourite movie of MIFF was “My Old Ass”. It’s a fantastic and quirky, time-travel/coming-of-age movie with a twist . Great performances from Aubrey Plaza and Maisy Stella set amongst beautiful Canadian backdrops. I spent 13 years living in Canada and the movie was filmed in the Muskoka Lakes region where I spent the last two years before moving back to Australia so this feel was extra special for my nostalgia.” - Reuben

The organist

“If anyone outside of Australia watched this I feel like they would not understand the humour at all but I frothed it” - Jade

Runt

I had the pleasure of attending the premiere of Australian film, Runt, at the Astor Theatre along with my husband and 6yo daughter. The movie stars Celeste Barber, Jai Courtney, Jack Thompson and Lily LaTorre. We had lots of laughs and shed several tears as we followed the story of 10-year old Annie and Runt, her stray dog, as they attempt to win $250,000 at the Agility Course Championships to keep their home and farm. I highly recommend immersing yourself in all the glitter and parachute tracksuits of this brilliant film. Happily, it is now showing in regular cinemas! - Nicole
