What’s GABV’s vision?

Our collective goal is to change the banking system so that it is more transparent, supports economic, social and environmental sustainability, and is composed of a diverse range of banking institutions serving the real economy.” - GABV vision
The GABV was founded in 2009 by ten leading banks that believed in the need for a fairer financial system. Today, 70 banks have become members of the GABV, with presence in more than 40 countries across Africa, Latin America, Asia Pacific, North America and Europe.

Here are some of the ways we put values-based banking into practice:

Our clean money promise

Using money as a force for good is key to a future where people and the planet thrive. Our clean money approach, underpinned by our responsible banking policy, aligns strongly with GABV’s vision and mission.

For Bank Australia, this means not funding industries that do harm – like fossil fuels, gambling, weapons or live animal exports – and focusing on those that create positive change, like clean energy transition, inclusive and affordable housing and protecting nature.
