Banking Code of Practice

Bank Australia is a member of the Australian Banking Association, which represents the Australian banking industry. As a member of the ABA, we subscribe to the Banking Code of Practice.

The Banking Code of Practice sets out standards of practice and service that protect and serve individual and small businesses customers and their guarantors, as defined by the code.. These are underpinned by four core principles:  

  • Trust and confidence
  • Integrity
  • Service
  • Transparency and accountability

The Banking Code Compliance Committee monitors compliance with the Banking Code of Practice.

Customer Owned Banking Code of Practice

Bank Australia is a member of the Customer Owned Banking Association (COBA), which is the industry association for Australia’s customer-owned banking institutions.

Asa member of COBA, we support the Customer Owned Banking Code of Practice, a set of ethical standards for customer owned banks, credit unions and mutual building societies.

The Code is a public expression of the level of support that subscribers will provide to its customers and the community, and the standards by which they be held accountable. It clearly outlines what a customer can expect when dealing with a Code subscriber.

The Customer Owned Banking Code Compliance Committee monitors compliance with the Customer Owned Banking Code of Practice and promotes good industry practice; supporting customer owned banks to achieve service standards Australians can trust.
